The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) wanted to make it easier and quicker for suppliers to access and tender for science and technology research projects. It’s done so by replacing a tendering process based on spreadsheets ands emails with an online marketplace known as R-Cloud. To meet data protection and business continuity requirements, Dstl chose to host R-Cloud on UKCloud’s assured cloud platform.
Developing life-saving armour, using big data in defence, examining changing perceptions of morality and moral frameworks used within conflicts — these are just a handful of past and current science and technology research projects managed by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl).
Dstl manages these research projects on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and other central government departments that need specialist science and technology solutions to contribute to the defence and security of the UK. Dstl works with a broad range of suppliers from industry and academia, both at home and abroad, to deliver the required solutions.
